Gynaecology - Obstetrics Center - Fields of expertise

Fields of expertise

Our team performs gynaecological surgery, breast surgery (benign disorders as well as cancers) and infertility surgery.

Gynaecological Surgery

Our team provides care for all types of gynaecological problems: disorder of the uterus (hysterectomies; treatment of fibroids; abnormalities of the cervix and the mucus), adnexal disorders (cysts or other ovarian issues; fallopian tube dysfunctions); endometriosis surgery; pelvic-genital static disorders: vaginal prolapse, urinary incontinence.

Depending on the nature of the intervention, your hospitalisation will be either traditional or you will receive ambulatory care as an outpatient.

Depending on your situation, different approaches will be offered to you:
- Video surgery:

  • Coelioscopy:a keyhole surgery where an optical device is inserted through the navel to examine the pelvis.
  • Hysteroscopy: a procedure using a camera and a light which are passed through the womb to examine it.

- Laparotomy: a surgical incision into the abdomen.
- Vaginal route: hysterectomy, treatment of prolapse or urinary incontinence.

Cryotherapy is also available. (It is a treatment which freezes a section of the cervix and it is used for vulva diseases or condyloma). This treatment is performed at the hospital without anaesthetics.

Breast Surgery

This type of surgery is sometimes helped by a localisation, performed beforehand in our radiology department.

Infertility Surgery

- Diagnosis as part of an infertility assessment: coelioscopy and hysteroscopy.
- Infertility surgery treatments (for example: tubal plastic).

Tubal sterilization

- Hysteroscopy, using the essure* method
- Coelioscopic

Breast cancer

Our hospital is accredited for breast cancer care.

We perform senological surgery within the Midi-Pyrénées regional network of oncology (Oncomip).

We organise in the hospital, multidisciplinary team meetings which bring together surgeons, radiotherapists, oncologists and anatomical pathologists. These meetings aim at offering you the best care plan.

Multidisciplinary care:

  • With our radiology department, situated in the basement of our hospital:
    • Pre-operative imaging: ultrasound scan, mammography, MRI scan, CT scan
    • If needed, ultrasound guided micro biopsies; radio guided macro biopsies (mammotome) in order to make a diagnosis.
    • Organising a pre-operative localization if needed (non palpable lesion)
  • With nuclear medicine services: pre-operative (sentinel lymph node localization); post-operation
  • With plastic surgeons; if there is immediate or delayed reconstruction
  • With radiotherapists: if there is pre or post-operative radiotherapy
  • With oncologists; if there is pre or post-operative chemotherapy

In some cases outpatient treatment is possible.

A post-operative report summary will be done with you during an announcement consultation.

Cervical, uterine and ovarian cancers mainly.

The approach depends on your situation : laparotomy, coelioscopy or vaginal approach.

Our hospital is accredited for gynaecological oncology.

The management of cancer involves multidisciplinary care:

  • With radiotherapists: pre or post-operative radiotherapy.
  • With oncologists: pre or post-operative chemotherapy.

After the operation, an announcement consultation will take place with one of our qualified nurses. This consultation has two purposes:
